AS happens on the last Thursday of every month, 7pm onwards on Thursday, April 26, will see various interesting cars and motorcycles, plus their ever enthusiastic owners, converge on The Red Lion in Shobrooke for Classic and Specialist Car and Bike Night.

With it being the April meet, there will be a festive element as the event celebrates another birthday, the sixth since it all began in April 2012.

Classic and Specialist Car and Bike Night is a completely informal event organised with the sole intention of bringing together cars, motorcycles and other vehicular curios of all ages, types and conditions.

The only “rule” regarding vehicle eligibility is that owner enthusiasm is essential, this being further simplified to “If You Love It, Bring It!”.

This open format has lead to a truly eclectic mix of vehicles, from the vintage to the brand new, from priceless exotica to daily workhorses, from gleaming show winners to those that appear to have not long exited a barn.

While the meets at The Red Lion are the core of what Classic and Specialist Car and Bike Night is about, there are occasional further adventures.

This often involves gathering vehicles for displays at charity or educational events. There is also a “Facebook” page for the meet, plus an email service to keep attendees informed of what is going on.

If you have a machine that means just a bit more to you than a means of getting around then you are invited to take it along.

Even if you just fancy going along to have a look, then do just that and enjoy the social side.

Whether your level of interest encompasses the minutiae of compression ratios and valve timings, or merely extends as far as “it’s shiny”, all are more than welcome!
