A CAMPAIGN to help restore Lapford Mill has been launched by the Friends of Lapford Mill.

The mill complex comprises the main house, a 14th century cob building housing a rare 15th century oak muntin screen and bread oven, a connected two storey cottage and four storey water mill.

Despite many renovations, the mill suffered dilapidation and damages due largely to the recent extreme weather conditions.

In 2012 the great floods caused extensive damage to the leat sluice gates, the waterwheel and the weir, however the machinery inside the mill is still in operable condition.

The Friends of Lapford Mill is aiming to fully restore the mill and to make it a centre for information and education about Devon flour milling and to contribute to understanding regarding ecology and river management in the 21st Century.

They are looking to connect with anyone who has an interest in the mill or might be keen to get involved in helping them to get the old girl into shape!
