CHURCHES Together in Cheriton Fitzpaine had a busy week celebrating Harvest.

On Sunday, September 10 the Methodist Church celebrated its Harvest Service followed, on the Monday by an Open Day during which villagers could take a closer look at the decorations and also enjoy tea, coffee, cake and a light lunch.

A total of £90 was raised for Methodist Church funds.

Then on Saturday, September 16, a new initiative found both Churches working together to provide a Harvest Supper in our fully-renovated Parish Hall.

Grace was sung by Ray Sanders after an introduction by Methodist minister Rev Ann Varker. Tables groaned under the weight of food and 80 people enjoyed a lovely meal with a licensed bar provided.

Before the meal was served, Denis Brinicombe and William Pike provided background music, with keyboard and bass guitar.

After the first course the Drama Club read extracts from Dickens’ Great Expectations and David Copperfield.

A total of £600 was raised for St Petrocks in Exeter.
