DESPITE the challenging circumstances, Landscore Primary School managed to wish all of its pupils a "Happy Holiday" and sent its Year 6 pupils off with a variation of the traditional leavers arch.
On June 29, Landscore Primary School opened its doors to welcome back all year groups in small bubbles for a few days-a-week.
Following the success of the return to school of their Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils, the staff and Governors decided to open more widely following the Government guidance on safe operation.
Pupils were in small bubbles with peers and enjoyed two days-a-week in school with their class teacher.
The pupils worked at spaced desks and enjoyed spending lots of time outside in the garden area with the animals, the forest school area and the playing fields.
This all happened, while maintaining the key workers bubbles, supporting the families working so hard during the pandemic.
Bubbles had their own play zones for breaktime and lunchtime, and the start and end times of the day were staggered to avoid congestion. For the days at home, and for those who chose not to come back online, work was still provided for the pupils.
In the last week of term, the Year 6 leavers who are moving onto Secondary School in September managed to sign one another’s shirts and run through the leavers arch, held this year on the field, with parents joining staff and pupils in a socially distanced event, allowing the school to celebrate the end of primary school life for this group of pupils.
Parents, pupils and staff enjoyed the chance to see one another and say farewell, and also prepare pupils for their new classes in September, meeting their teacher and seeing their new classrooms.
The Governing Body at Landscore Primary School want to thank the staff at the school for another successful academic year, especially in these challenging times.
