NEWTON St Cyres Young Farmers’ Club members have had a very busy few months with the club continuing to thrive.

Our most recent success was at the Devon County Show where the club triumphed for the second consecutive year.

The Tractor Ted themed club cubicle was placed first with Catherine White’s cake achieving Champion in the Cookery and Fran Mobb’s crocheted sheep winning Champion textile.

Chloe Eyles was placed first in Novice Dairy Stock Judging and the club gained the most points in Dairy Stock Judging overall.

Katie Davie celebrated huge Stock Judging success as Champion Under 18 Stock Judger, Under 18 Stock Judger with the Most Points and Stock Judger with the Most Points Overall.

The club then went on to achieve Champion Club with the Most Points in Stock Judging.

Will Ayre aced his first year of Junket Making, winning Best Novice and Overall Champion.

The club achieved the most points in the cookery section and members did extremely well with a host of individual entries.

To top it all off, we won the Overall trophy for the club with the most points, an achievement of which we are very proud.

We celebrated with a social to Exmouth with fish and chips and a game of rounders on the beach.

Following on from the Devon County Show and the club’s other successes at the Outdoor Activities Field Day, five members qualified for the South West Area round of Stock Judging on June 9, along with the club cubicle and a member taking part in Farm Safety.

We wish the members taking part the best of luck and hope to do Devon proud.

It would be great to see lots of you at our Raft Race on Sunday, July 28 and our summer barn party on Saturday, August 2.

Our annual summer barn party is on Saturday, August 2 at Spicers Farm, Sandford EX17 4EL, 9pm to 1am, £5 Members, £7 Non Members, ROAR, DJ Dan Copp and barbecue.
