Pasty update and urgent repairs at A J Cox
SINCE A J Cox Butchers launched their new “Proper Pasty”, they have had to work hard to keep up with demand due to the fantastic support from their customers.
Owner Steve Nicholls said: “We weren’t sure what to expect as we baked our first batch.
"We have had an unbelievable response to the article in the ’Courier’.
"We very quickly had to go and get another oven for the shop.
"Some of you may have noticed that Ivor isn’t in the shop at the moment.
"He now spends all of his time in the kitchen keeping us up with demand.
"A larger mixer to help him with the pastry has also made life less messy.
"By the end of our third full week we had sold more than a thousand of the crimped beauties!”
A J Cox have been asked if they are going to produce a smaller version of the pasty. They are working on this at the moment and hope to be have them for sale in the next few weeks.
A J Cox are having to make urgent repairs to the joist under the shop floor which unfortunately means that they will need to close for a couple of days.
They will be open on Saturday, April 16, but will close early at 12noon for the work to start and will be open again on Wednesday, April 20 at 6am.
