Yearlstone Vineyard and Café will be opening soon

YEARLSTONE Vineyard and Café will be opening again on Friday, March 25.

The beautiful venue is a great place for a walk and a lovely light lunch washed down with wines recently praised in the leading wine magazines of both France and Germany.

Try the fizz which won a medal at the Lyons International, or the muscaty dry white Number 5 which did well in November at London’s top wine competition the IWSC.

Or as the UK wine trade magazine "Decanter" put it:

"If you have the money to buy Champagne but choose to spend it on English sparkling wine instead you can be confident of getting something at least as good if not better. "And you will have the added satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting local grape growers and boosting the UK economy too.”

There is a sunny, south facing terrace overlooking the Exe Valley with stunning views over the vines.

The café menu features a mix of local produce, including Devon charcuterie and local cheeses, as well as duck in Yearlstone wine, handmade smoked salmon pate, Brixham fish casserole, and some seasonal specials.

You can take a self-guided tour including the beautiful cider apple orchard, with the opportunity to taste various wines. It is worth coming at different times of the season when the vineyard is transformed as buds come out and the grapes ripen adding a variety of colours to the south facing slopes.

Wines are available to buy and there are offers throughout the season.

The café will also open on three Saturday evenings through the summer; on May 28 when there will be a Devon-themed menu, with local fish, pork and apple dishes; on the June 25 when a Middle Eastern meze will be served on the terrace with grilled local meats and fish and fabulous Mediterranean desserts, and on July 30 for a Spanish-themed evening with gazpacho, Catalan fish and chicken, and Majorcan cheesecake on the the menu.

You must book ahead for these special events.
