MID Devon District councillors have the option to do the right thing for Crediton, or they may take the easy way out.

To accept the building of 330 houses on the wrong side of Crediton is a bad solution for all of us. It would result in more congestion, more pollution, dangerous roads and crossings for children using the rugby club and tractors hurtling through a densely built housing estate.

Instead, put 330 houses on the flat land near Tesco’s and you have homes where people can walk to the shops, walk to the railway station or hop into their cars and drive along the A377 to travel into Exeter where many are likely to work.

Simply because a farmer has offered the land at Pedlarspool (renamed Creedy Bridge for development purposes), does not mean it makes sense from any sensible perspective, (infrastructure, practical or sustainable living).

It’s simply opportunistic for the seller of the land to make £Xm from the land, and by giving councillors an easy (but wholly wrong) way out to reduce their housing headache.

Come on Crediton, do the right thing. Build good houses in the right place for our community.
