THE Courier has been thanked for its help in publicising an open gardens event.

The event was such a success, due to a record attendance, that £1,108.58 was raised for the upkeep of Brushford Church.

The open gardens at Brushford Barton, between Coldridge and Winkleigh, was open for the afternoon of Sunday, June 14.

Visitors were able to see roses, sweet peas and other summer flowers, the herb garden and the walled vegetable garden.

There were also plant and cut flower sales and cream teas were served.

Visitors could also see the ornamental waterfowl and take part in the raffle.

Mrs Christine Tucker, said: "Thank you to the Courier for your support.

"The PCC (Parochial Church Council) of Brushford Church would like to thank everyone who supported our open gardens.

"The funds raised were £300 more than the last time we held the event so thank you to everyone who supported it."

She added: "It really was a fantastic result."
