LOCAL charity, Hospiscare, has received a donation of £347.50, thanks to the president of Crediton Bowling Club, Cynthia Bishop.
Anne Friend, Hospiscare Crediton fundraising committee co-ordinator, went along to a recent bingo evening held at the Bowling Club, where she was presented with the money by Mrs Bishop.
She told the meeting that the charity cares for people in an area from Okehampton to Exeter and Cullompton to the South Devon coast.
The charity has 28 community nurses, with one specifically working in the Crediton area.
Those cared for, who could be suffering from a wide range of illness including cancer, AIDS, from heart problems, MS, and many others, are referred by their GP.
Hospiscare has a 12-bed hospice in Exeter.
Anne said that the charity relies on donations from the public and would not be able to do its work without them.
Mrs Bishop thanked Crediton Bowling Club members for their support for her charity for the year.
She said the money raised came from a "spider" competition on the opening day (£38.50), president's day donations (£21.50), John Robbins birthday donations (£41.15), draw for whisky on tour (£56), collection on coach by Mike H (£46.20), wrong bias and other sins (including swearing fund) (£84.65), closing day "spider" (£42) and from whisky donated by Gordon Duguid and from donations on the bingo evening.
