FIRST Bow Scouts have restarted all three sections after having a year off due to the pandemic.
There have been many requests for places, particularly in the Beavers section, and they have been placed on a waiting list due to the ratio of numbers of leader to children.
An activity field at Burston Meadow has been developed for the purpose of a range of activities, with four altar fires for fire lighting and cooking, an assault course, an open grassed area for games and camping as well as a multi-purpose shelter.
The Parish Council has been helpful in obtaining funding for the shelter and the scouts are very grateful and thank them for their continued support. The shelter was originally going to house the archery equipment but it will now have a multitude of uses including a wet weather area and a “mess tent”. The side of the shelter is yet to be developed and will have benches around it for a traditional scout camp fire, toasting marshmallows and sharing stories and songs.
For more children to have the opportunity of joining in the fun more parents are needed to help out.
