A GROUP of 19 scouts and their leaders from Bow Scouts recently visited Den Brook Wind Farm in the Den Brook Valley between Bow, Spreyton and North Tawton, for a site tour to see the completed turbines.

Following a visit and presentation Iain MacCallum, Den Brook’s Construction Site Manager, made to the Bow Scouts during the construction phase of the project, the group enjoyed a vehicle tour of the wind farm and took part in a question and answer session with the project team at a turbine location.

Mr MacCallum, said: “It was fantastic to welcome the local scouts group to the site, the first group to visit the wind farm with all of the turbines erected.

"They took a real interest in the site and asked a number of questions focused on the type of turbine, its mechanics and the amount of energy the wind farm will generate.”

Scout Leader, Shaun Metcalf of Bow Scouts, said: “Having seen the site progress over the last year we were keen to visit the wind farm.

"The scouts really enjoyed their trip and were pleased to have the opportunity to stand close to a turbine which was moving due to being tested!”

The Den Brook Wind Farm is drawing to the end of its construction phase with turbines now currently undergoing testing before becoming fully operational in late 2016.
