CELEBRATIONS to commemorate 150 years of Christian education in Bow were recently held in the village with the musical "Noah and His Rainbow of Love," written by Mrs Diana Christenson.
More than 100 people attended the musical and enjoyed a lovely tea afterwards.
An exhibition with 19 display boards of John Bunion’s book "Pilgrims Progress" was held in the chapel and was well attended.
The events enabled everyone to get together and share the celebrations.
The origin of Bow Gospel Hall may be traced to the early days of the "Brethren" movement as an unnamed home worker is listed as working there in the early 1830’s.
The present hall is the result of its adjoining home "Turnpike Cottage" being bequested to two prominent brethren in November 1854.
By 1865 the assembly hall was erected and with a Christian schoolmaster occupying the cottage, which functioned as a school by day and a meeting room for worship, prayer and preaching during evenings and weekends.
