FOR years Bow had its own Post Office, open six days a week. This closed maybe as much as two years ago and now the Post Office is asking local people for views on a four hours a week service.
The six week consultation, ending on August 3, was launched this week (on June 23). The proposed mobile outreach service is part of the Post Office network change programme to modernise and reshape its network of branches.
Post Office Limited proposed running a mobile service for four hours each week from the Village Hall car park on Station Road. This would be on Wednesdays 12.30-2.30pm and Fridays 9-11am.
A Post Office spokesman said this follows the decision by Post Office Limited to make the temporary closure of the Bow branch permanent and introduce the outreach service under the Devon plan which ended last year.
"The standard range of products and services will continue to be available through the proposed mobile Post Office service. Customers can still collect benefits in cash using our banking services of Post Office card account," said the spokesman.
Tim Nickolls, network development manager for Devon said feedback from the local community was welcomed. "We look forward to receiving comments on the days and hours suggested," he said.
Submissions can be made during the consultation by post to the National Consultation Team, Post Office Limited, FREEPOST CONSULTATION TEAM(no stamp is needed) or by email to [email protected]">[email protected] .
