Book now to join a cookery course
THE Devon Chef, Tim Harris, has some new courses planned and anyone interested in joining is now welcome to get in touch to book a place.
Chinese Regional Food will be the theme of a course on Saturday, April 12, from 10.30am to 1.30pm.
Tim explained: "China has some lovely food, so much better and more interesting than your average take away.
"Learn how to make Twice Cooked Swiss Chard, stir fried broccoli with chilli and Szechuan pepper, braised pork with potatoes, beef with cumin - all healthy and easy to make".
The next course will be Summer Seasonal Cooking, which will take place on Saturday, May 17, from 10.30am to 1.30pm.
He said about this course: "As May starts some great produce arrives in Devon! As well as asparagus, there are new potatoes, some of the first soft fruits, broad beans, mackerel, new season lamb and wild garlic.
"We will cook with whatever is available to make some great seasonal dishes, including any ideas you may have".
In June, on Thursday, June 26, an evening course, Middle Eastern Flavours, will run from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
Tim explained: "I spent three years living in Jerusalem so love Middle Eastern food, particularly Lebanese cuisine, which has had a lasting influence across the region and beyond.
"We shall use fresh local produce to make classics such as baba ghanoush (aubergine dip), hummus (chick pea spread), mussakhan (chicken with sumac), tabbouleh (parsley, mint and lemon salad, kusa mashi (stuffed courgettes).
"These are healthy dishes and really showcase the top quality produce we get locally".
On Thursday, July 31, from 7pm to 10pm, the course is Vegetables - for vegetarians and everyone else!
Tim's menu includes roast root vegetables with tahini, carrots glazed with honey and cumin, roast garlic and tomato tart and fresh tomato pasta sauce.
