A GRAND total of 160 breakfasts were served by a very happy band of willing helpers at Black Dog Memorial Hall during a recent morning, led by the professional help of Hilary Partridge.
The breakfast was held in memory of Maryann Hill, a much valued member of the Memorial Hall committee and founder of the annual Craft Fair which continues and this year will be held on November 11.
Organisers were unsure how many people would attend with it being a rather wet and windy morning, but they were astonished with the wonderful support of the community.
A wonderful array of raffle prizes were collected by Yolanda, Maryann and Alan’s daughter, all the prizes donated by local businesses, plus many donated by local friends.
One of the organisers, Sonia Andrews, explained: “The proceeds of the event was £1,500, and this will be given to the Kidney unit at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where Maryann received excellent care.
“Many thanks to all the Black Dog Memorial Hall committee and to Alan, Oliver and Yo, also to Black Dog Eggs who donated all the eggs and W F Chinn for support.
