AS part of a three-day tour of the Diocese of Exeter, The Rt Revd Dame Sarah Mullally, Bishop of Crediton visited Exminster-based charity, Westbank Community Health and Care, a charity which works across the area, including Crediton.

Mary Nisbett, Westbank Chief Executive, said: “It was an honour to receive a visit from Bishop Sarah and show her around Westbank.  Her tour involved meeting visitors, volunteers and staff from the different departments including family time, gymnastics club, the fitness gym, volunteering, the daycare centre and Devon Carers.  The visit provided us with a great opportunity to showcase the diverse range of support we offer here at our healthy living centre and across our community.”

Bishop Sarah said: “It was great to see how Westbank is creating community and promoting health. People of all ages are finding friendship and support which benefits not just the individual but the community.  It was a delight to visit.”

Tim Collins, Devon Carers Local Development Manager, Exeter Team, said: "It was a great opportunity to explore with Bishop Sarah the growing awareness of the needs of carers. She clearly recognised the important social and community role that carer’s increasingly play. Discussions are in place to acknowledge this through a Service of Thanksgiving for Carers, hopefully during Carers week in June."
