HUGH Manson, of Hugh Manson’s Guitars in Exeter, has given a big thumbs up for the new album "Shobrooke Moon", by the local band "The Woodmen".
Hugh, an entrepreneur, who makes guitars for the world’s most famous musicians said of the debut album: “This is a stimulating album with modern and sometimes courageous lyrics. All set against a country, folk and blues style melodies.
"It is played by a band that clearly knows and enjoy its stuff. A pleasing voice, some great guitars and even a saw! A good and rewarding listen”.
Band member Pete Mason said: "We are delighted that Hugh, who is a great guitar maker, a music insider and who has also toured with bands like ’Yes’, ’Them Crooked Vultures’, ’Nickel Creek’, ’Seasick Steve’ and many others, should give us such a fine review."
"The Woodmen" CD launch party will be held at the Buccaneer’s Bar, East Street, Crediton on Friday, May 4.
The party will start at 8pm with support from "The Moonshine Seranders" and with "The Woodmen" on stage at 9pm.
To add to the party atmosphere the entry charge will be £5 and the CD will be on sale for £5 on the night. All profits from the CD sales will go to FORCE Cancer Support and Hospiscare as part of the campaign.
"The Woodmen" played at the Hospiscare Men’s Walk in March, and will continue to play charity gigs throughout the year. The band is booked to play Exeter University on June 21.
