WHEN the subject for this year’s Flower Festival at Morchard Bishop Parish Church was first announced as “Bible Stories” several people wondered how the arrangers could ever do this.

Do it they did and superbly. Almost 20 flower arrangers created displays all around the church and in the windows while the school (Messy Church), the Pre-School and Toddler Group all contributed their own arrangements.

Ingenuity rode high as people had made things, children making animals, Lego houses and people. Gardens were raided and more people involved “back stage” served the lunches and cream teas, the stalls for bric-a-brac and plants, the music, the lighting, and more as well as the loan of plants from Robert Moore of Lydcott Nursery and from Homeleigh Garden Centre. Refreshments and the stalls were in the Memorial Hall.

The Festival was organised by Joy Carrington and Mo Sparrow. Arrangers were Sarah Gillbard, Emma Heal, Fenella Rundell, Kathryn King, Kathy Allder, Anne Jones, Michela Hunt, Mo Sparrow, Jo and Barry Trask, Judy Downing, Dee Warren, Christine Bailey, Claire Houghton Ward, the Rev Lindsey Starrs with the School, Marina Down and Doreen Woodland, Wendy Vere and Jo Eames, sometimes two doing an arrangement.
