AT the late, late Christmas lunch held at Sandford Congregational Church Hall Beryl Ball celebrated her 90th birthday, when all present sang Happy Birthday to her.

As the Christmas lunch could not be held in December the late festive lunch with a turkey roast and all the trimmings was held in a packed hall on Tuesday, January 30, and was greatly enjoyed by everyone.

Organiser Marion Nosworthy said that the next lunch is on Tuesday, February 27 from 12 noon. Their last film show, Hidden Figures, proved very popular and was attended by 20 people, who also enjoyed ice creams and cream teas during the intervals.

The film is set in the early 1960s about the American space race, particularly featuring three ladies and the segregation at that time.

The next film show will be Breakfast at Tiffany’s starring Audrey Hepburn and will be held on Monday, February 19 at 2pm. Entry is free and all are welcome.

The next Sunday afternoon service at the Congregational Church will take place at 4pm on Sunday, February 4, with Ken Harris from Coleford. The following one will be February 18 and will be taken by John Gooding from Crediton.
