CHRISTMAS trees, beautifully decorated, filled Sandford Congregational Church for the church’s annual Christmas Tree Festival.
Individuals, organisations, local groups and businesses decorated each tree, and everyone was very different.
Sandford Parish Clerk, Mr Malcolm Vallance officially switched on the lights on each tree to signify the start of the festival.
Shortly afterwards the children from the local primary school attended to see the school’s tree, which featured decorations made by the children themselves.
There were a total of 30 trees to be seen as well as a Nativity Scene and a snow scene.
Refreshments were available and many people visited the festival during the days it was open.
Donations made by visitors were for church funds. There was also a donation point for the Hope Orphanage in Romania.
A Carol Service, the culmination of the festival, was well attended and enjoyed by all who went along.
Marion Nosworthy welcomed everyone and Pamela Tilney-Ellis organised the service, which included readings by Margaret Tucker, Marilyn Winter, Marion Nosworthy and Margaret Phillips with Julie Rowe, organist.
The Christmas carols and songs were chosen by those who attend the monthly lunches held at the church hall.
After the service everyone enjoyed a festive tea.
