CREDITON Community Bookshop is pleased to announce that it will be hosting an evening talk with Raynor Winn, author of The Salt Path, on Thursday, November 8.

The Salt Path is an honest and life-affirming true story of coming to terms with grief and the healing power of the natural world. Ultimately, it is a portrayal of home, and how it can be lost, rebuilt, and rediscovered in the most unexpected ways.

The Salt Path is Raynor Winn’s first book and tells the extraordinary story of how, a few days after learning that her husband Moth is terminally ill, they lose their livelihood and their home.

Having been married for 32 years and with nothing left and little time, they decide to walk the 630 miles around the South West Coast Path, tracing the very edge of Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

For the journey they carried only the essentials for surviving the walk, living free in the wind swept and battered landscape next to the sea. Through each step, each encounter and all the trials along the way the walk becomes an incredible journey.

The book went on to be shortlisted for the Wainwright Book Prize 2018 which celebrates the best writing on the outdoors, nature and UK-based travel writing.

The event will take place on November 8 at Crediton Community Bookshop, 21 High Street. Tickets cost £3 and can be purchased through the shop by telephoning 01363 774740 and redeemed against a signed copy.
