A FLY past by three Auster aircraft from nearby Eaglescott airfield "buzzing" the playing field three or four times, had all heads looking skywards at Morchard Bishop.
This was one of the highlights of the vintage rally and family fun day organised by Morchard Bishop Playing Fields Association, which raised just over £3,000 from the day.
Once again it was a day when people who had moved away returned to Morchard, when friends got together, families met up and village organisations contributed to the fun.
Stallholders included the the parish church while the Women"s Institute ran the cream teas, the barbecue was run by members of Emmanuel Chapel, and the village bowling club and gardening club also ran events.
There were a number of trade and craft stalls as well as others run for charities and the grand draw prizes included a meal for four at the London Inn, Morchard and a ride in a vintage Lagonda car.
More than 60 vintage and classic vehicles were on show. The stationary engines dated from the 1920s and the tractors went back to the time of the last World War.
There were two commercial vehicles, a threshing machine from Sandford, plus cars ranging from a 1936 Aston Martin, 1934 Austin Ruby and a 1930 Lagonda Tourer to a collection of Morris 1000s.
Nearly all the vehicles came from within a few miles of Morchard, although one came from Par in Cornwall, and others from North Devon.
There was plenty of entertainment, a wide choice of refreshments, live music, a bouncy castle, face painting, as well as Terry Moule from North Devon with ferret racing.
