ONE OF the South West's leading artists will be holding an exhibition of his work at his studio at Peel House, Chulmleigh, on Saturday, September 3.

Andy White, a former soldier and now a psychologist and part-time artist, had no artistic training but, more than 10 years ago began to create works with piles of broken pottery.

Since then he has come to be regarded as one of the country's leading mosaic artists, producing exceptional works.

Notably, he created Ruben's Dream between 2003 and 2005 and Abraham's Children between 2006 and 2008.

When he is not working on his mosaics, created using recycled crockery, Andy paints in oils and more recently has specialised in producing works in the style championed by Max Ernst, leader of the surrealist movement.

More than 40 paintings will be on display as well as the mosaic, Abraham's Children.

The mosaic depicts a representation of The Last Supper and recently Andy announced that he had been asked if this work could be exhibited at an exhibition of comparative religious themes in London.

Visitors to Peel House will also be able to see a new mosaic on which Andy has been working for the past two and a half years.

The exhibition of art which Andy will be displaying is entitled "Meaning and Mortality".

It will be held from 6pm to 10pm and all are invited to attend.

Confirmation of attendance would be gratefully received on 01769 581720.
