AN exhibition of art, which was created by children, young people and older people in a variety of hands-on arts workshops was on display at the former Gees shop in Crediton High Street.
The Crediton project "A Reason to Stop" initially involved staff from all three Crediton schools, representatives from the Town Team, Crediton Arts Centre, Upstream, local artists and Devon Guild of Craftsmen who together came up with the idea of an arts trail in the centre of the town which would provide people with a reason to stop and look as something unexpected catches their eye.
The project involved a number of workshops which were based on something to do with Crediton, its history, architecture or something else particular to the locality.
"A Reason to Stop" comprises of six projects; two textile projects with older people, a mosaic project with children from Landscore Primary School, a photography project with older people supported by Upstream, a ceramic project with children from Hayward’s Primary School and a printmaking project at Queen Elizabeth’s School (QE) which involved children from both primary schools and was aided by students from QE’s art and English departments.
A large number of people attended the exhibition to see the artwork that was created during the project.
