BRAMPFORD Speke C of E Primary School governors and staff are celebrating another “Good” grading from Ofsted after an intense, one-day short inspection on February 21.

Headteacher, Nic George said: “We are thrilled that the inspector has agreed with our own self-evaluations and we were graded as ‘good’ with our many successes being noted in the report.”

The inspector recognised that the school had a “Thorough understanding of its strengths and is able to set clear priorities to improve further.

“By working closely in partnership, the school has created a culture in which pupils have performed highly, enjoyed their learning and have become well-rounded individuals prepared for life beyond primary school.

“Support for pupils with special educational needs was noted to be particularly effective along with the work of the overall leadership team.

“They left no stone unturned in working with others to overcome barriers to learning.

“Since the last inspection the school has worked hard to address areas identified for improvement. For example, teachers ensure that the most able pupils received the challenge they need to make good progress.

“The school had been particularly successful in improving the quality of teaching in mathematics.

“The governing body was recognised for its knowledge and praised for strengthening leadership.

“Governors at the school were well-informed and knew the school well. They provided a good support and a strong level of challenge, especially concerning pupils’ outcomes.”

Staff were considered to be highly skilled and enjoyed their work. They contributed towards the purposeful culture of the school.

The Ofsted inspector made time to talk to many pupils and they spoke warmly about the support and encouragement they received at school.

Pupils quoted the school motto of “Be Positive” saying it helped them to be determined and try hard.

Pupils demonstrated their positive attitudes through, for example, running their own clubs such as the Makaton signing club.

Parents spoke of the “friendly and nurturing atmosphere” at the school and they clearly saw the school as a valuable feature of the local community.

Lastly the Headteacher, Nic George concluded: “This successful inspection outcome was a team effort and it is a pleasure to work with such fantastic staff, pupils and school community.

“Brampford Speke is a unique school and we look forward to furthering our good work and becoming outstanding in the future.”
