THE 2018 Heritage Open Day at Crediton Parish Church will be held on Sunday, August 12, from 1pm until 4.30pm.

Local experts will be on-hand to show visitors around the building and hopefully answer all the questions that people may wish to ask.

Questions about the challenge of maintaining such an enormous building and its historic contents would be especially welcome.

Access to both the bell tower and the Governors Room, on the top floor of the chapter house, will be available.

There will be a tour to the bell tower at 2.30pm and tours to the Governors Room at 1.15pm and 3.15pm. Booking for both is advised.

Some of the highlights at the church include the Crediton Green Man, the English Civil War artefacts, floor boards dating from 1434, one of the best peals of 12 bells in the country, a fine Harrison and Harrison organ, an Arts and Crafts stained glass window, and many smaller items of local and regional historic importance.

Admission will be free but donations towards the Campaign Roof Appeal would be welcome.

Light refreshments will be available. For further information about the Open Day or to reserve a place on one of the tours please contact Bill Jerman on 01363 772865.
