A LOCAL contracting and development company is supporting a local cancer charity fundraising event for the third year.

R J Brooks and Son Ltd, based in Crediton, is appealing for local ladies to take part in the annual "Ladies Driving Challenge" to raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The company has supported the event for the last two years and this year will be attending with a "Terex Backhoe Loader" for the ladies to drive.

The Ladies Driving Challenge will take place on Sunday, October 18, at the Westpoint showground, near Exeter.

This annual event gives ladies the chance to drive fire engines, police cars and heavy goods vehicles and others alongside the Terex digger – vehicles they would not normally get the chance to drive.

All the ladies will be assisted by an instructor who will guide them through various courses whilst driving the different vehicles.

If you are a lady with a full UK driving licence and would like to help raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care whilst taking on the challenge, then this is the event for you.

Simon Brooks from R J Brooks and Son Ltd, said: "We are really pleased to be able to support this event once again.

"Its not only for a great cause its a superb event to be involved in.

"Everyone has a lot of fun and the ladies soon get the hang of driving all the different vehicles."

All proceeds of the Ladies Driving challenge will go towards funding the Marie Curie Nurses who work in the local area.

Marie Curie Cancer Care provides high quality nursing, totally free, to give terminally ill people the choice of dying at home supported by their families.
