LOCAL charity The Amber Foundation is delighted that it has been chosen as Charity of the Year 2018 by Exeter firm Michelmores.

The Foundation helps local homeless, unemployed young people in the South West to regain control of their lives, find their feet and move on to positive, independent futures.

They deliver a blend of support, training, experience and opportunity that encourages young people to focus on their strengths and move forward towards work, secure housing and a more fulfilling future.

Kim Whittle, centre manager at the Foundation’s Ashley Court residential centre near Chulmleigh, said: “We are delighted that Michelmores has chosen the Amber Foundation as its next Charity of the Year.

"The funds that they raise will play a vital role in helping young people in crisis to positively turn their lives around.

"We are working with them to develop an exciting volunteering programme, to include projects such as workshops for residents to develop their employability skills.

"This support is invaluable to us as it will enrich our development programme, providing our residents with the opportunity to raise their aspirations – whilst also giving the volunteers a greater understanding of the issues surrounding youth homelessness and the challenges that young people can face.

"This really is set to be a special partnership and an exciting year!”
