TWO brothers who attend Bow Community Primary School have been presented with certificates after raising more than £500 for Bow Village Hall committee.
Archie and Oscar’s mum Abi explained: “It all began in the Summer Holidays when Archie looked at the plans for Bow Village Hall field and liked the idea for the pump track.
“I said to him that lots of money needs to be raised and if he had any ideas how it could be raised.
“He said he could do a sponsored bike ride.
“We talked about it around the dinner table and decided that between Archie and Oscar they could walk, cycle or swim the distance from Bow, Devon to Bow in London!
“Combined they would need to complete 189 miles!
“Most days we would go out walking miles, dedicated to the challenge and would be additional to any other activities the boys were doing.
“Every day they would ask ‘are we going walking today? Every mile counts!’
“They both cycled as well, completing the Camel Trail and the Granite Way, which was when their last miles were completed.
“On the hottest day in August, they both cycled 16 miles, the whole of the Granite Way and that took their total over the 189 miles. “With support from everyone they managed to raise over £500.”
Village Hall committee representative Jo Morgan presented the boys with certificates during a recent school assembly.
