IT is more than 30 years since Crediton Hospital opened. Over that time the League of Friends has raised thousands of pounds - thanks to all the people in the area.

The League has relied on the support of local people and again is asking people to come to its annual meeting, to be held on Thursday, April 6 at the Hospital at 2pm.

Among other items on the agenda will be a talk “What is Your Hospital For?” There will be a tour of the Hospital and a chance to see items bought by the League over the past year.

This has included a special bicycle for the physio therapy department and a £1,000 donation to Devon Senior Voice to secure its future and help develop a programme of activities for older people.

League chairman, Mrs Mary Collins, is exploring the possibility of establishing a programme to maintain the fitness of older people and making them more independent, drawing on the expertise of the fitness staff at Lords Meadow Leisure Centre and using their equipment to keep joints mobile and older people more able to carry out everyday tasks.

A full report will be available at the annual meeting.
