CREDITON Garden Club will begin its 2022 programme of interesting talks, visits and plant sales on January 25.

The meeting will begin at 7pm (please note earlier start time) at Crediton Library in Belle Parade.

The members will welcome Stephen Powles, who will talk about Hedgehog Survival.

Mr Powles gave up a career as a vet for his lifelong passion, following and documenting wildlife.

He writes: “The UK hedgehog population has suffered a dramatic decline during the last 10 years.

"Critical to hedgehog conservation in urban environments is their ability to move through a wider landscape.”

Stephen will describe how you can make your garden hedgehog friendly.

He will then show how his brother, Chris, inspired the villagers of Kirtlington to take an interest in their hedgehogs and how they went on to create a “Hedgehog Superhighway” of interconnected gardens (as seen on BBC’s "The One Show").

All are welcome. The cost is £2.50 per meeting or £12 per annum.

Refreshments will be available and there will also be a raffle.
