IN the Crediton Courier, issue 1074, dated Friday, February 26, we printed a story in reference to the sad passing away of Alice Teague, aged 28.

We have since had correspondence with members of her family who expressed concern about the article and some inaccuracies within.

These include the reference to the cause of death being from anorexia nervosa, the incorrect charity’s website address and the age of her son Theo, who is aged three, not four as stated in the article. Currently there is no confirmed cause of death.

The information contained in the article was obtained in good faith from what we thought were credible sources including a family member and a close friend.

Correspondence with other contacts were made and we were instructed that one family member would be dealing with us, which is not unusual in this situation.

The article was constructed from interviews and statements and approval sought from those concerned within before publication.

We would like to apologise to anyone who was affected by these inaccuracies, despite best efforts to obtain the correct information.

The family wish for Alice to be remembered for the thoughtful, considerate and caring person that she was, with a smile that lit up every room.
