I WAS interested to read in the Courier that people outside Crediton are giving us support against air pollution.
The County Council elections are now over and I have to say that the only person to canvass in Exeter Road was the Conservative candidate for the Crediton Rural seat, Peter Hare-Scott, who is the Leader of Mid Devon District Council.
No-one else came but a few of us received a letter from councillor Nick Way, thanking us for talking to him. We never saw him.
Let us hope that with the control of Devon County Council being taken over by the Conservatives we will fare better than before regarding the Western Route, which we do not want.
It is also good to see that Peter Hare-Scott is also against this proposed route and now we have a great deal of support from the Crediton Traffic Action Group (CTAG).
It is brilliant now that we have the air quality figures available on the Mid Devon District Council web site but I cannot understand why, on mornings when we have long tailbacks of traffic, the machine comes out with a low reading!
We are breathing in all these exhaust fumes which are affecting our health. When the traffic lights broke down, it took us 30 minutes to travel from Crediton church to Exeter Road.
We residents would also like to see a speed check in Exeter Road. I was promised one but we are still waiting.
The next CTAG meeting will be held at Crediton Rugby Club on Monday, July 6, starting at 7.30pm. Come on, residents of Exeter Road, please attend the meeting, for your own benefit.
