CHILDREN at Cheriton Bishop Primary School had a brilliant, if somewhat unusual, World Book Day, Linda McCracken, the school’s administrator told the "Courier".
She continued: "There were still the usual amazing costumes from those in school - and even some at home!
"Also, Class 3 and the KS1 bubble enjoyed a ’Scavenger Hunt’ in which they had to go in search of words, sentences, phrases and examples of great writing from a range of books around the house or at school to complete their challenge.
"Class 3 also had a Book Quiz via Microsoft Teams and a ’Share a Book’ storytime at the end of the day.
"Class 4 tackled some extremely challenging World Book Day maths problems as well as an Author and Illustrator Academy challenge set by the author Katherine Rundell where they had to research some text from her book ’Skysteppers’ and answer questions set by the author herself!
"World Book Day is such a popular part of the school calendar and its celebration of reading for pleasure is more important now than ever. Hopefully next year we can do it properly again!"
