FLOWERS, dancing, scarecrows, Saxons, music, food, sports were all part of this year's Revel at Lapford, a time when village people get together, meet friends and make friends.

One of the highlights was the procession and crowning of the Revel King and Queen. This year they were Ashley Cann and Georgia Youll. Crowners were Holly Loosemore and Merlin Tucker.

Their attendants were Jessica Burrows, George Mellish, Rachel Powell, Ben Rodd, Chloe Cann, Jordan Tancock, Bethan Williams, Ryan Smith, Eleanor Williams, Louie Cran, Bella McPherson and Samuel Williams.

After the crowning, Winkleigh Morris entertained in style, children of Lapford School, tutored by Ed Rennie, gave a maypole dance display, there was the sweet scramble, skittles on the green, plenty to eat and drink.

A £3,150 cheque from the National Lottery Awards for All was presented by Clive Eginton, Mid Devon District Council member for the area.

Lapford School pupils who designed the winning Revel poster, front and back covers for the Revel programme received their prizes.

Merlin Tucker's poster won, Katie Penny was front cover winner, Georgia Youll designed the best back cover.

All the entries were on display in the church as part of the Flower Show. The Saxons, who stayed at Lapford over the weekend, had visited the school, and the Youth Club had two scarecrow making workshops with Rebecca Holley and Sue Briant-Evans.
