THE generosity of the people of Crediton and Crediton Hamlets has been praised by Jane Sansom, the Crediton Area Poppy Appeal Organiser.

She explained that this year the people of Crediton and Hamlets raised a record amount of £13,244 during the Poppy Appeal.

Jane said: "I would like to say a huge ’THANK YOU’ on behalf of myself, the Local Honorary Poppy Appeal Organiser and all of the Branch Committee.

"Thanks go to every individual, organisation, school and business who gave their time and made donations and made this amount achievable."

Jane added that the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal kicked off on October 28, 2021 and actually runs until September 30, 2022.

She said that this reflects that there are people living with a disability everyday and not just during the Remembrance period.

Jane explained that the Legion runs a scheme where awards can be made to volunteers who have served for a number of years for the Poppy Appeal. Jane commented: "Over the last few years our committee membership has been very limited for various reasons and I am well aware that some volunteers’ awards may be overdue.

"If you feel you are due an award please do not hesitate to contact me on mobile: 07989 934810."

She concluded: "If you need to contact the Royal British Legion, the helpline number is 0808 8028080."
