THE Friends of St Matthew’s Church at Cheriton Fitzpaine held a Flower Festival during the weekend of May 17 to 19.

The theme was “A Night at the Oscars” and 26 organisations provided arrangements, ranging from the School PTA, April Pressing and Wassailing Society to Football and Cricket Clubs.

The Lace Class had an exquisite entry made by Daphne Pottle and Mavis Davey.

During the Festival, very attractive salads, tea/coffee and cake were on offer, and visitors were also able to enter a quiz.

Nine members of the Garden Club helped with different entries in the Festival, which were much admired.

A plant sale in the corner of the church did well, and the Festival was well-attended, with light music provided by organist, Piers Howell.
