BY the end of July, Mid Devon District Council should be publishing its draft proposals for its Parish Review.
At its July meeting, Crediton Hamlets Parish Council heard that several parishes including Hittisleigh and Cheriton Bishop had submitted maps showing their suggestions for future parish boundaries.
District Cllr Derek Coren said he had told the district council that the Hamlets was a very old parish, many families having lived there for generations.
He said the Review would go to the full district council meeting on Wednesday, July 6 in Tiverton when councillors would vote on the draft proposals.
It would then go out for a second consultation. Cllr David Parker, vice chairman taking the chair for this meeting, reminded members that the parish council had voted for no change.
FOR STORAGE
The June meeting of Crediton Hamlets Parish Council was unusually noisy with one member of the public receiving a good ticking off for at least twice loudly interrupting other members of the public. He eventually left the room.
Mr and Mrs Hawman of Crediton were applying for permission to erect a storage building at Gunstone Yard, Yeoford. While members of the public explained their objections, a member of the public had been interrupting them.
Reasons for the parish council objecting included that there had not been enough information with the application, the design for the shed was large and out of character for the area, the road leading to it was narrow, not suitable for large vehicles and there was no mention of how local residents would be able to get to their water meters that were on the site.
At the July meeting, members felt that as public feelings had been quite high at the June meeting it would be best if this application was called in to the district council should the district council planning officer be minded to approve it.
FORMER CHAPEL
Looking at an application for change of use of Yeoford Gospel Hall from a chapel to a single dwelling with parking opposite, the council agreed to support this.
It felt this would be preferable to it falling into disrepair and becoming an eyesore.
Councillors agreed a site meeting was needed before coming to any recommendation on an application from Ms R Samuel for change of use of woodland for siting up to five tents, three camper vans and the erection of one pod for use as holiday accommodation, widening and improving the existing access and associated hardstanding at woodland at Little Harford, Venny Tedburn.
APPROVALS
It was noted that Mid Devon District Council had granted permission for the conversion of a barn to a dwelling at Westacott Barton, Crediton.
Also for the erection of four holiday pods, one holiday cabin, a storage shed, solar panels, wetland area, parking and new vehicle access on land at Blackdown Equestrian Centre, Posbury for A and E Holsgrove and Harris.
Also approved by the district council was change of use of agricultural land for the siting of a residential mobile home for use by the equine manager on land at NGR 281002 100385 for Mr. G Cooper.
The district council had granted a Certificate of Lawful Use or Development for Mr S Willis for the use of a building as a garden store in association with the existing dwelling for a period in excess of four years at Dewsmoor House, Barnstaple Cross, Crediton.
The district council had also approved the prior approval for prior notification for the change of use of an agricultural building to three dwellings under Class Q at Westacott Barton, Crediton for Westacott Developments and another prior notification for the change of use of an agricultural building to two dwellings under Class Q.
It was agreed to make a grant of £75 to Rotary Club of Crediton Boniface towards the cost of planting and upkeep of planters near Downes on the A377 and to buy a tree to be planted in Yeoford School grounds to commemorate the Queen’s Jubilee.
The next meetings are September 5 at Yeoford, October 3 at the Boniface Centre, Crediton, November 7 Yeoford and December 5 at the Boniface Centre.
