DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue received a report of a combine harvester on fire in a field at Eggesford at 5.59pm on Sunday, August 10.
Two fire engines, from Hatherleigh and North Tawton were sent to the scene along with a water bowser from Danes Castle, Exeter.

On arrival, crews confirmed that the combine harvester was well alight.
The fire had also spread to approximately 10 metres of hedgerow.

Crews used two sets of breathing apparatus, one main jet and a compressed air foam jet to put out the fire.
A fogspike was also used as well as a thermal imaging camera to check the fire was out.
The vehicle and hedgerow were severely damaged by fire and the Fire Service said that the cause was accidental.
Duty of care was left with the land owner.
