DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue were called to a report of a car that had left the roadway and ended up in a pond just after 12 noon on Thursday, August 21.

The incident was near Bickleigh, Tiverton and fire engines from Tiverton and Danes Castle, Exeter and a specialist rescue team were sent.

On arrival crews confirmed that this was private car that had left the road into the water and one person was still trapped within the car.

The crews used cutting equipment, a stretcher, ladder and dry suits to release the occupant.

The occupant was then left in the hands of the Ambulance crew on scene.

The incident was closed at 2.31pm.
