CREDITON High Street has been a scene of activity this afternoon, Monday, May 11, following a serious incident in the area of the steps and bus shelter near the former Lloyds Bank premises from about 4.15pm.
Police and a land ambulance rushed to the scene and a Devon Air Ambulance landed in Newcombes Meadow.
Witnesses said they believed that a male had been stabbed and was taken away in a land ambulance to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital at about 4.45pm.

A further witness said that a woman in a wheelchair was arrested and taken away in a police van at about 5pm.
About six police vehicles attended as well as the land ambulance.
One witness commented how they believed the incident “must be serious” because the air ambulance crew “quickly jumped out of the air ambulance and ran to the scene”.
The area around the bus shelter and steps are taped off as a crime scene.
Shopping bags can be seen on the steps.
Police Inspector Sarah Clark, speaking from the scene, said: “This was an incident between two individuals known to each other.
“We are not seeking anyone else but there will be an increased police presence in the area for the next few hours.”

Long traffic queues are now dispersed following the incident.
