THANKS to the generosity of the people of Morchard Bishop and Hele Lane Chapel, 66 Christmas shoeboxes were filled for needy children and adults in Moldova.

The beautifully wrapped boxes contained only new items including sweets, toys, hats, scarves and staples such as soap and toothpaste.

In addition four large bags of brand new hand-knitted and crocheted clothes, toys and blankets were given.

These gifts will be delivered in time for Christmas to the poor and needy of Moldova by the Devon-based charity Christian Response to Eastern Europe.

The charity operates throughout the year and vans regularly go out to Moldova taking much-needed supplies of second-hand clothes, bedding and newly-knitted garments.
