MORE people than ever, possibly around 300, joined the Good Friday procession of the Stations of the Cross at Crediton when a huge wooden cross was borne from church to church.
Once again this year, there was a big gathering at Crediton town square when an excellent address was given by the Bishop of Crediton the Rt Rev Dame Sarah Mullally.
She said that Good Friday was about light and dark and it reminds us that Jesus, as the Light of the World, was not extinguished on Good Friday. On Easter Day we celebrate that death and darkness were overcome.
The Stations of the Cross procession had begun at the Roman Catholic Church of St Boniface on Park Road, on to the parish church, Methodist Church, the town square, before ending at the Congregational Church with another short service of Bible readings, songs and prayers, after which refreshments included hot cross buns.
