WANTING to spread a little happiness for displaced people from the Ukraine and others across the world, Crediton Boniface Rotary Club has sent a load of gifts on its way abroad.

With a generous donation from one of its Rotarians, the club was able to purchase 200 shoeboxes to be filled with items for children, teenagers, babies, and household goods.

Organiser of the shoebox appeal for the club, Nick Yarnold, said: “We have initially delivered more than 130 filled shoeboxes to a distribution point in Saltash.  They will go to Preston, the major distribution centre, and transported to places such as Moldova and Poland.

“But without the generosity of local businesses, other friends and Rotarians this would not have been achieved, so a great big THANK YOU. If I have missed anybody, my sincere apologies.”

Nick listed those who had helped: Crediton MOT, Conibear Bros, Western Spray, Dan Rees, Aqua Essentials, Camper Coffee Company, Ashgrove Kitchens, Graphic, Select Simulation, The Alley Cat, Sandford Orchards, KJ Stoneman, members of Newton St Cyres church and community, Belluno Restaurant at Newton St Cyres, The Balconeer Ladies - Beer Engine, Yeoford Yarns, Yeoford Primary Community School, Spreyton Primary School and The Duck at Yeoford.
