DISABLED people and their families can find out everything they need to know about worry-free motoring by joining the experts from the Motability Scheme at their One Big Day events across the UK this summer.
The Scheme is celebrating 10 years of successful One Big Day events and will showcase the UK’s largest display of vehicles for disabled people across a series of regional venues.
There are five events, in Manchester on Friday and Saturday, May 5 and 6, at Westpoint, near Exeter on Saturday, July 15, Harrogate on Saturday, August 12, Peterborough on Saturday, September 9 and wrapping up in September at the first-ever One Big Day in Scotland on Saturday, September 23.
Each event will display a wide range of cars, adaptations, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles, scooters and powered wheelchairs available to lease on the Scheme, from a variety of different manufacturers.
Free to enter, with free parking, at the One Big Day events there will be helpful Motability Scheme advisors to answer any questions about the Scheme, as well as representatives from the Scheme partners, RAC, RSA and Kwik Fit. Information will also be available from Disabled Motoring UK and Driving Mobility Centres.
Visitors to the events can test drive adapted and non-adapted cars with a professional instructor to find out which vehicles are best suited to their individual needs. Test drives can be booked on the day – visitors simply need to bring along their full driving licence and choose a car to test drive!
Alison Beasley, One Big Day event organiser at Motability Operations Ltd, said: "We are so excited to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of our One Big Day events in 2017.
"Since creating the events in 2007, it has been fantastic to see them grow every year, attracting more than 20,000 visitors in 2016.
"The One Big Day events give disabled motorists a worry-free day out where they have the opportunity to explore all their motoring options, test drive vehicles, talk to experts and other customers and gain a full understanding of how the Scheme works and how it can benefit them. We are looking forward to meeting all our visitors during summer 2017."
Fun for all of the family, younger visitors to the events will enjoy entertainment including free face painting, balloon modelling and the chance to meet the Motability mascot, Billy the Bear.
All visitors will receive a token on arrival which can be exchanged for a free cup of tea, coffee or soft drink and a range of food will be available to purchase.
