A FIRE crew from Crediton and a fire engine and water bowser from Danes Castle, Exeter, were sent to report of straw on fire close to a barn at Shobrooke at 11.34am this morning, Tuesday, April 20.

On arrival crews confirmed this was approximately 10 tonnes of straw well alight, however the barn was not involved in the fire.

The crews extinguished the fire using two foam jets and two hose reel jets.

The straw was severely damaged by the fire and the cause was accidental.
